Here it is. The first day of spring has finally arrived. With that come the hopes and dreams of warm weather, outdoor activities and the final shed of winter hibernation. What a joke most foul from Mother Nature to have it snow on this first day of rebirth.
As I look out on the community that I have lived in for over half a century and where my passion has become my business, memories dance through my head about what an amazing place Purcellville, Virginia is to live in; or if you’re lucky, have the opportunity to visit.
Shenandoah Furniture Gallery is nestled in the “historic” district of downtown Purcellville. Main Street which is the heart of the community connects new “Pville” with businesses like Nichols Hardware that have been around for decades. The charm and feel of this community is only enhanced by the people who live, love and work here. This is hometown USA where homemade apple pie is being sold at the farmers market while whiskey is made at Catoctin Creek; the first distillery since prohibition in Purcellville.
To come to Purcellville, the heart of Virginia Wine Country is truly a “going back in time” experience where your word is still your contract and people say hello and hold doors open for one another. Visiting here invites you to slow down for a moment to smell the roses or Rose’.
With countless wineries and vineyards such as Breaux Vineyards, finding just one to please your pallet is the hard part. Each stop on the wine tour showcases the beauty that is Loudoun County and spotlights the places where we source our wood for our farmhouse tables, reclaimed wood floors, re-purposed furniture and re-sourced custom kitchens.
Several of the finest craft beer breweries in the country are now calling Purcellville home. We encourage you to stop and grab a growler of T/P/D at Adroit Theory Brewing Company and take notice of the unique design. Shenandoah Furniture Gallery designed and built the tasting room with all locally sourced, reclaimed wood.
There is so much to do and see in this once-quiet town built in the mid-1700s. We have come a long way baby but somehow maintained our small-town feel in one of the fastest developing counties in Virginia. We invite you to visit us for our farm tables but stay for the experience. Where ever you call home, once you visit Purcellville, you will take a bit of it back with you.
